Does anyone else think Chris Nolan is the “paparazzi” taking these videos and pictures from the sets? He does have a propensity to break the mold with marketing campaigns. Just sayin’.

Batman: Arkham City Full Length Trailer

Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and Rocksteady Studios have released a new full length trailer for their upcoming video game Batman: Arkham City, the much anticipated sequel to the highly successful game Batman: Arkham Asylum. I have no idea how I missed this video. According to YouTube, it was posted in mid-March. According to Facebook, I am a “fan” of the Arkham City page. According to the Arkham City website, I am on their email notification list. So imagine my surprise when I checked the website yesterday to find that they had posted a new full length trailer almost two months ago. Yep, I kinda freaked out. Then I freaked out more when I actually watched it – but this time in a good way. Seriously, guys – I can’t wait for this game. Anyway, here it is in all it’s epic glory. Batman: Arkham City will be released October 12, 2011.

Anne Hathaway Cast as Catwoman in Dark Knight Rises

Last month, Warner Bros. Pictures and director Christopher Nolan announced two new cast members for the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises. Anne Hathaway will play Selina Kyle, and Tom Hardy has been cast to play Bane. In a statement released by Warner Bros., Nolan said, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Anne Hathaway, who will be a fantastic addition to our ensemble as we complete our story.” Of Tom Hardy, Nolan continued, “I am delighted to be working with Tom again and excited to watch him bring to life our new interpretation of one of Batman’s most formidable enemies.” Hardy worked with Nolan previously on “Inception”. Welcome to Leia Shot First!

Welcome!

Welcome to “Leia Shot First”, the blog about nerdy stuff. LSF is the result of years and years of looking for space-themed toys, clothing, and articles for girls, by girls. It took me years to come to terms with the fact that it’s okay that I enjoy astronomy, video games, comic books, and science fiction, despite the general consensus that these subjects and activities are for boys. Now, I get to write about what I love, not just for you girls, but for the guys too! While most posts here will be for everyone, I intend to pay special attention to women – whether it’s women in a science field, a female superhero, strong science-fiction females, or toys made for young girls interested in science.

I hope this doesn’t discourage any of you guys out there to read and participate in the dialogue. Science, comics and science fiction incorporate all aspects of life, and influence and inspire millions of people around the world. On that note, I’d like to begin the blog with this quote from Isaac Asimov:

“Individual science fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinded critics and philosophers of today, but the core of science fiction, its essence, has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all.”
