The Perseid Meteor Shower (so named because we can see it in the constellation Perseus from here on Earth) peaks overnight tonight, but unfortunately our view will be hampered by a near-full moon. Your best bet to see any meteors is tomorrow morning from anywhere in the U.S. Here in New Mexico, you want to set your alarms for 3:00 AM and settle in for the peak at approx. 5:16 AM. For an estimation of when the best time to view this and other meteor showers from where you live, visit NASA’s Fluxtimator website. Good luck, and happy viewing!

Good morning! As a Chris Nolan fan and a Batman lover, I am excited to announce the release of a first look of Anne Hathaway in full Catwoman garb from The Dark Knight Rises website. She appears to be riding Batman’s BatBike from The Dark Knight. What do you guys think? I think she looks pretty awesome in terms of the costume, but I’m disappointed her hair isn’t black, and well… to be honest I’m still up in the air about Anne Hathaway in the role. But, I have to put my faith in Chris Nolan – I wasn’t too sure about Heath Ledger as the Joker, either, and that turned out to be perfection. Anyway, the picture is below. Let me know what you think – enjoy! The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Michael Cane, and Gary Oldman, and it set to be released in Summer 2012.
Artist Lucy Knisley has released the final poster of her “HPoster” collection. Right now, for a limited time, she is offering free downloads of all 9 posters she has created (9 for movies 1-8 and a summary poster). If you’ve never seen her work, her posters are comic-strip-like, and include some really quirky conversations and illustrations from the Harry Potter books and movies. She describes them as parodies, but they are parodies that don’t insult the series, which is what I love best about them. I’ve put the “Summharry” below for you all to check out, but please head over to her blog and take a look at all of them. Also, please consider donating to her if you decide to download the printable versions. Here is the link to her blog: OMGRYFFINDOR.. Thanks, Lucy!
Sorry about the lack of posts, everybody! I’ve been so busy that I’ve had to take a writing hiatus. But not to to fret – I will be back. In the meantime, io9.com has a great article on a sort of “PR crisis” during a Q&A panel with DC Comics at this year’s Comic-Con. The hubbub started when a Batgirl-clad woman asked why DC doesn’t employ more women. The question ignited a firestorm that no one, especially Batgirl, could have predicted. Read the story at the link.
